I offered some commentary to the Fargo Forum over the weekend.  It ended up in this news story.  I certainly value the free ink; however, it is unfortunate that it comes as part of such a sad story.  I hope this story is a reminder to the would-be burglar or trespasser.  As a gun owner, I know this story is a reminder of why lethal force should be the final option.  It doesn't matter that the kid was being foolish, or even that Mr. Allen seems to have had little other choice, nobody wants to look in the mirror every morning and see the guy that killed a 17 year old kid.
